Why do guys do this...?

I've noticed that whenever I have one of those blah days, as in go to school with my hair in a ponytail, sweatpants, and barely any makeup on the guy I like seems to pay attention to me more than when I dress nicer and put on makeup. Is he just looking at me because I look worst and it's distracting or are guys oddly more attracted to the natural look?
